OVERVIEW

The Upper Airway Stimulation Workshop for Obstructive Sleep Apnea: State of the Art Course boasts a robust 2-day program helmed by international and local experts. This year, we have expanded the course to include lectures and dissection on unilateral and bilateral hypoglossal nerve implants. To cater to participants of all levels, the course includes basic foundations, navigating pitfalls, difficult case discussions and newest research data on hypoglossal nerve implant. This course will benefit sleep surgeons physicians and technicians of varying experience who are keen to develop expertise in hypoglossal nerve stimulation implant.

The first day comprises full day of comprehensive lectures with emphasis on basic and advanced topics on hypoglossal nerve stimulation implant. There will also be presentations on the newest research data in this field and panel discussions by our expert international and local faculty on interesting and challenging cases. This aims to equip participants with knowledge including proper patient selection, intra-operative anatomical variations, implant titration and troubleshooting, and more.

The second day is a full day hands-on cadaveric dissection whereby participants will be guided through the steps of unilateral and bilateral hypoglossal nerve stimulation implant surgery and techniques to mitigate a velopharyngeal complete concentric collapse (such as uvulopalatopharyngeal reconstructive surgery techniques, coblation tongue channeling and radiofrequency soft palate). Participants also have the option of signing up as an observer for the cadaveric dissection.
